Transistor Fundamentals, Volume 2: Basic Transistor Circuits
Publisher: S..MS | 1968 | ISBN: 0672206420 | 208 pages | PDF | 31,8 MB

This book introduces you to transistor operation by first explaining the operation of the P-N junction. This explanation is then extended to the junction transistor, which consists of two P-N juctions. The explanation of the internal workings of the transistor is quite simplified, but sifficient for you to relate the internal workings to the operation of the transistor in a circuit. Thus, the transition is made from semiconductor physics to the actual transistor circuits. Basic amplifiers and oscillators are discussed, with the emphasis on fundamentals. Graphical analyses with important points highlighted in color are used to help in the explanations. A chapter is included to cover some 'recent' important semiconductor advances: the zener diode, unijunction transistor, silicon controlled rectifier, and field-effect transistor.

Gold Mining: Formation and Resource Estimation, Economics and Environmental Impact
Publisher: Nov a Sci ence | 2009 | ISBN: 1607410966 | 227 pages | PDF | 10,2 MB

Gold, a chemical element with the symbol Au, is a highly sought-after precious metal, having been used as money, in jewelery, in sculpture, and for ornamentation since the beginning of recorded history. The metal occurs as nuggets or grains in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. Gold mining consists of the processes and techniques employed in the removal of gold from the ground. There are several techniques by which gold may be extracted from the Earth. Since the 1880s, South Africa has been the source for a large proportion of the world's gold supply, with about 50% of all gold ever produced having come from South Africa. Other major producers are the United States, Australia, China, Russia and Peru. The world's oceans also hold a vast amount of gold, but in very low concentrations. At current consumption rates, the supply of gold is believed to last 45 years. This book will present current research on gold mining including methodologies for discovering new deposits of gold as well as economic and environmental issues.

This text emphasizes understanding over memorization to effectively present the "big picture" through the use of drug prototypes, large and small print, and special foundational chapters that cover principles related to each body system. At the end of each chapter, a summary of major nursing implications also helps you apply the material to real-world situations.
UNIQUE! Summaries of Major Nursing Implications at the end of each chapter help you understand how to apply concepts to clinical practice in an easy-to-understand format.

Uses large print to identify essential "need-to-know" information and small print to identify "nice-to-know" information
Concise drug summary tables present quick reference to detailed information on individual drugs, including class, generic and trade names, dosages, routes, and indications.
End-of-chapter Key Points are summarized in a bulleted format to facilitate your review of the most important concepts in each chapter.
Patient and family teaching content is highlighted to emphasize this key content and provide you with critical information to include in teaching patients about drugs and effects and stresses points for educating family members when they will be helping to care for the patient.
Provides Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology reviews at the beginning of chapters to help you understand the relationships pharmacology and the biologic systems that drugs influence.
A comprehensive collection of appendixes includes a concise overview of Canadian drug information, gender-related drugs, drug administration techniques, normal laboratory values, and much more.
